Responsibilities

• Conducting tutorials/exercises (for the course "Physics for Geodesy")

• Supervising experiments in laboratory courses ("Research Laboratory Semiconductor Devices")

• Potentially assistance with additional tutorials, exercises, and laboratory courses

• Supporting the setting up new experiments in connection with the commencement of Prof. Benjamin Jungfleisch's tenure starting October 1, 2026

• Commissioning of a Brillouin scattering apparatus

• Assuming the role of Laser Safety Officer (having the relevant training), for the first few months of Prof. Jungfleisch's tenure

• Conducting Brillouin scattering experiments

• Writing scientific publications; if appropriate, performing simulation calculations matching the experiments

• Administrative support for the activities of the Jungfleisch research group.

Admission Requirements

• Ph.D. in Physics or Physical Chemistry

• Experience in setting up optical experiments

• Certification as a Laser Safety Officer

• Excellent command of English

• Ability to teach at the university level

Desired Qualification

• Experience with Brillouin spectroscopy and the construction of corresponding equipment / experimental setups

• Experience in writing scientific publications / peer-reviewed papers

• Excellent command of German / Excellent proficiency in German

• Experience in university-level teaching

• Experience in the atomistic modelling of materials

We offer an annual gross salary of at least € 70,200.20 for a fulltime position. An overpayment based on qualification and experience is possible.
