Two Faculty Positions (experiment, theory) in Quantum Science at the University at Buffalo
The Department of Physics at the University at Buffalo, SUNY (UB) is entering a period of significant growth: two tenure-track faculty members (an experimental physicist working in MBE growth of quantum materials and a theoretical physicist working in quantum information processing/quantum optics) started in 2022 as part of a multi-year, multi-faculty recruitment effort in quantum science and technology. Currently, we have two open positions:
(1) Open-rank tenure-track faculty position in experimental physics in the area of biological applications of quantum science and technologies. The successful candidate is expected to build an active research program in developing concepts/techniques/materials for quantum imaging and/or quantum sensing with potential applications in the broad area of life sciences at scales beyond the reach of conventional techniques (https://www.ubjobs.buffalo.edu/postings/39090).
(2) A tenure-track faculty position in theoretical condensed matter physics/material science at the level of Associate or Full Professor. The successful candidate is expected to build an active research program in the general interdisciplinary area between condensed matter physics and information science, such as data science/artificial intelligence-guided quantum materials design and exploration (including, but not limited to, topological materials, 2D materials, quantum magnets, non-linear optical materials, superconductors), and quantum machine learning (https://www.ubjobs.buffalo.edu/postings/39089).
