Postdoc on topological solitons at the University of Edinburgh

Applications are invited for the post of Postdoctoral Research Associate in mathematical physics to work with Bernd Schroers in the School of Mathematics at the University of Edinburgh. Candidates should preferably have some research experience related to topological solitons and their applications in physics, and ideally have an active interest in magnetic skyrmions. The post is available from 1st September 2022 for a 24 months fixed-term, full-time contract, with a possible extension by a further year.

The successful candidate will join the Maxwell Institute (https://www.maxwell.ac.uk), the joint mathematical research institute of the University of Edinburgh and Heriot-Watt University, and become a member of the Edinburgh Mathematical Physics Group (https://empg.maths.ed.ac.uk) whose research interests include string theory, gauge theory, solitons, integrable systems, non-commutative geometry, classical and quantum gravity. The post will allow its holder ample opportunities to develop and pursue their own research interests in mathematical physics.
