PhD Position in Ferroic oxide materials for spintronic applications – Universidad Autónoma de Madrid
Topic: Ferroic oxide materials for spintronic applications.
Duration: 3 to 4 years.
Salary: equivalent to FPU and FPI Spanish fellowships.
Supervisor: Dr. Saül Vélez
Description of the project:
We are looking for a motivated PhD Student to join the Condensed Matter Physics Center-IFIMAC at the Autonomous University of Madrid. The candidate will work on Experimental Condensed Matter Physics with focus on exploiting ferroic oxide materials for novel spintronic applications.
In this PhD project, the candidate will realize innovative magnetic memory schemes and explore new routes to transport and electrically manipulate spin information in devices by integrating ferrimagnetic and ferroelectric oxide materials in nanoengineered heterostructures. The devices will be fabricated by using the facilities available at the UAM-CSIC International Campus of Excellence and characterized by magnetotransport and magnetooptical microscopy in the Spintronics and Nanodevices laboratory lead by Dr. Saül Vélez.
Eligibility: candidates must hold a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Physics or related areas.
How to apply:
Please e-mail your application directly to group leader Dr. Saül Vélez (saul.velez(at)uam.es). The applications must include the following attachments as one single PDF document in English:
· A motivation letter (max. 1 page).
· CV including a list of publications.
· Contact details of at least two referees (or letters of recommendation if available).
Candidates will be selected in a public, international, and equal-opportunity competition, keeping in mind that women and minorities are under-represented in Physics. We encourage female researchers to apply.
The applications will be reviewed as received. Interviews will begin October 1st and continue until the position is filled. The position is available for immediate start.
